How to use Compress image
Shrink photos and screenshots so they fit email attachments, upload limits on job and admission forms, or a faster website. Pick a quality level, optionally cap the width, and save as JPG or WebP. If a compressed file would come out bigger than the original, the original is kept.
- 1
Choose your photos, screenshots or PNGs.
- 2
Set Quality (60–80% is a good balance) and, if you like, a max width.
- 3
Pick JPG or WebP as the output format and click Compress images.
- 4
Compare before and after, then download one file or all as a ZIP.
Compress image: common questions
How do I reduce a photo to under 100 KB?
Lower the quality to around 60% and set a max width such as 1000 px, then check the new size shown for each file. Repeat with lower values if it is still too big.
Will a PNG keep its transparent background?
Only if you choose WebP. JPG has no transparency, so see-through areas are filled with white.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens in your browser on your own device, so personal and work photos stay with you.
